JAS Consultants is
looking for an ideal candidate to assist one of our clients with plan review
services.
DUTIES:
·Reviews
and approves complex construction documents for compliance with structural
requirements for major commercial and industrial buildings and may review other
residential, commercial, improvement and repair plans and specifications as
required.
·Confers with homeowners, builders, engineers and architects to give
information and interpret building codes and regulations; recommends necessary
changes to obtain compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
·Reviews corrected plans for conformity with requirements and issues building
permits; calculates fees to be assessed for projects and submits documentation
for collection.
·Receives residential and commercial permit applications and plans and routes
to appropriate divisions and/or departments.
·Maintains a variety of records and computerized files; updates data and
generates required printed reports.
·Makes on-site construction inspections, where complex projects or problems may
exist, to confirm that construction complies with approved plans and
specifications. Initiates appropriate action to enforce code compliance.
·Prepares correspondence to architects, engineers and contractors relating to
the correction of plans and engineering detail.
·Advises building inspectors on structural and other building related problems
arising in the field during construction.
·Coordinates construction planning documents review with other City
departments.
·Keeps informed of changes and new legislation pertaining to assigned work;
investigates new and substitute materials and methods of structural design;
recommends appropriate changes in the building codes and regulations.
·Participates in setting work priorities, coordinating and scheduling own
assignments, and establishing goals and objectives for assigned activity.
·Performs related work as assigned.
Job Requirements
Experience: Five years working with a government
agency performing plan review duties.
Education: Minimum of a bachelors degree from an
accredited university with major coursework in civil, structural, mechanical,
electrical engineering and/or architecture.
Certification/License: An ICC Plans Examiner
certification. An Illinois engineer or
architect registration is highly desirable.
